Hey all
I was racing on classics this morning (racing myself), and I started to think. I personally still prefer the classics tracks to the new united tracks (I'm a tarmac person), problem being the majority of the people race in madlaps, so half the time there's hardly anyone in classics. I know a few more people like the classics tracks over the united tracks too.
Would it be possible to transfer a handful of the most popular/best classic tracks to the madlaps server? (I'm talking Honduras, Jalapeno, Big Red, Mulitcolour GP, Shanghai, Bury GP etc). It would be cool to mix some of these tracks into the newer ones. The only problem I see with this idea is that it would probably make the Classics server even more unpopular due to the nicer tracks being on the madlaps server.
Thoughts? |

i think it's unpopular because:
1: for new peeps, the tracks are transparent....
2: server name is red. i think it should be blue/yellow :]
stands out a bit more, you know? _________________

I meant popular ones, not ones where you have an unbeatable rec on (which would need to be set again ) |

it is set, but due to car handling the track is slower to race on than on tmn. 3 secs slower to be precise.
actually its made it more level it seems. _________________

What does everyone reckon to the new Sweeping GP 6?
I nigh on cried when I saw the intro but my god what a close race it was, gave me a sore head and motion sickness after all the loops in the second half of the lap

It's my warped sense of humour
I still like the idea of keeping the old and new tracks seperate but agree that some of the new tracks are not doing it at the moment. .. |

Just thought it would be cool to mix some of the older tracks in for more variety. Imagine racing on a 'normal' track like shanghai and then the next track being something crazy like andsomeizer.
Do you think this could happen, or is this idea gonna get brushed aside.. |

My thoughts :-
If old nations support isn't still required why don't we :-
1. Rebrand CLASSIC as TRACK, cull the not so popular and real stunt stuff, keep adding all good new track submissions to this server (like peppers GP offering from last saturday)
2. Move some of the culled stunt and mix mappings to MAD LAPS
3. Rotate on occasions a set of tracks from the tracks server to the MAD LAPS server to ensure tracks are represented properly on MAD LAPS.

I think... one big server to rule them all. Come back a little bit more to race tracks since it has been the main line of MadLaps and Servalot in the past and simply add some "stunt-like" ones sometimes. just a thought but i'll still consider MadLaps as home, whatever happens. |

I agree one server with all the tracks would be better than two...............
only problem is trackvoters and these people know who they are, the people who vote repeatedly for the same tracks or the ones they are good at themselves and what ends up happening, all the tricky stunt tracks never get played and you do all the classics which is pretty much the point of having a classic server in the first place. Don't get me wrong I like the classic tracks they're what brought me to mad laps in the first place but I like it when flying circus, tilted, typical, dirt and moon roof 2 come up as they generally speaking provide closer racing. _________________

you're right, Spanky. The 'serial voters' are dominating the track selection I see when they're playing. Pleading and moaning has no effect on them. The new Controller will have an IP based limiter (3/24hrs ?).
*wakes up....
I just had a wonderful dream _________________

I understand that people need to get to grips with the new blocks but I do think that we're in danger of losing what I like to call traditional trackbuilding skills. Don't cut the wide parts completely, just use them sparingly.

this might sound crazy but....any chance we could get rid of voting altogether?
give moderators power to change the tracks. there are a few responsible regulars around right?
peeps just ask the moderators nicely to change the track.
i just find myself racing on the same set of tracks every time i'm on the server... _________________

Thanks for the radical option, I don't see why we should go over and over the same tracks for the sake of a misused functionality. _________________
