|
|
ok, I've increased the memory in the server to 1GB to try and lighten the processing burden that TMUF is placing upon it... unfortunately this has had little effect.
Where in the past I have been able to run 3 servers on this machine with a combined 50 slots at less than 40% processor usage it appears that TMUF stresses it so much that maximum slot capacity is around 25 slots where upon it reaches 100% processor usage....
Also the nations tracks currently draw very buggy indeed with the graphics being drawn in the wrong order... This leads to apparent holes, obstacles and invisible edging etc.
Nadeo have already released one server patch which I installed today but I don't know what to think at the moment..... or what we'll be able to achieve, because thats not even enough to run a good GP.
Admittedly the server is a 5 year old 2Ghz Pentium in a rather specialised custom configuration, but that was never a problem before.
I may experiment with an AMD tonight to see if it handles things better... but i'm not holding my breath. |

does the server have the cartridge type processor??
i have an old pc here with 3 ram slots and 7 pci`s, it`s fully functioning apart from no o/s, the only prob is the processor is on 350mhz, and 64meg of ram
i am trying to find a newer one for a donor, not having much luck but will keep searching _________________ Never underestimate the power of stupidity. |

ok, server is running on linux and seems better.
To solve glitches on the classic tracks clear your cache. The mods have been removed fromt eh tracks and these are what was causing the problem. |

yes, it was only on modded tracks that the invisible roads were occurring.
I wish I could play trackmania instead of just talking about it! I'm on the wrong computer ... v frustrating. |

You're sure you're not looking in the original TMU folder? Or maybe that's where you have to look. I don't know. They are two different installs - mine are on two partitions because there wasn't enough room for the """""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""patch"""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""" |

Link to the TMUF cache => C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\TrackMania\Cache
The simple TMU cache => C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\TrackMania United\Cache |

I can't even find an application data folder in there...
EDIT: Seemed to be hidden, I've cleared the cache now anyway so let's see what happens. _________________

to view the application data folder you need to show hidden files and folders. This is achieved by clicking tools -> folder options -> view and clicking various boxes. In vista you need to go to control panel and file and folder settings ( or something similar ) and the same bits. |
