Okay I've had TMN for about 6 weeks now and it runs perfectly well on my desktop at home.

However in that time it has only worked once on my laptop.

My laptop is 6 months old and good as new whereas the desktop is over 2 yrs so does anyone know why please?

It did work on the laptop once so I must be missing something...any ideas guys??

It's a laptop.

laptop graphics are notorious for not running games. I have to adjust the bios in my laptop to give the maximum shared graphics memory for trackmania to run and be stable... but it looks pants. Try either running it in safe mode on the config screen or reducing the graphics settings to minimum and see if that works. could also try a reinstall as nations has flaked out on a few of us recently and we've all had to reinstall.

I dont think that its anything to do with the graphics. The one time I managed to play it, it worked fine.

It's as if my laptop isnt powerful enough to open it up or like I've changed a setting or there is something which my laptop doesnt like...

Administrator mode is a function on Vista that gives the program all the privileges to be able to run. It sometimes fixes things when they dont open properly and can occasionally be quite useful.

Its nothing to do with being an admin of the computer in the control panel settings.

Ahhh i see!...just goes to show im more computer illiterate than i thought! lol
I've just tried safe mode again and still nothing.

Is there Admin mode on XP or is there a way of getting the same effect? Sounds like that would be a solution as my laptop just completely crashes when I open TMN or TMNF.

Firstly, there's no administrator mode on xp.
Few things to try....
1. When you say it crashes - are you getting a Blue Screen Of Death (BSOD) or is it just hanging?
2. If its hanging, have you noticed if your HDD light is on permenantly?
3. If it is, try running a disk cleanup and defrag on it.
4. Also, I would try the reinstall of TMN.
5. When you click on the desktop shortcut, do you even get the splash start screen?
6. Have you tried to do a bench test on your laptop from the config option?

It just hangs with the black screen saying "Please Wait..."

After a few secs the HDD light goes off and then it just stops making noise as if it hasnt got any operations to deal with. If I press windows + M to minimise it this doesnt work and CTRL ALT DEL makes the cursor appear but this doesnt do anything. I can move the cursor but it has no other function!

I do get the launcher with the 5 options: Play, Configure, etc... but when I click play it goes to what I've just described. And when I do a bench test the same thing happens.

When I played the game on my desktop at home the same thing happens but after about 20 secs it sorts it so i think maybe just my laptop isnt powerful enough despite 2x 512mb RAM HDrives :S

If you go into Run>msconfig>boot.ini>safe boot, then reboot, you can log in as an administrator. I had to do it to install TMU and the update on Gis`s pc, as something (starforce i think) was stopping it installing.

The problem could be anything.

Do you get an error message? Do you know how to upload tracks? Do you have a account for the new TMNF site? etc...
