LATE STARTERS
Tom 7 Days left 1st Strike
Everyone seems to always be complaining about late starters so i have an idea just to let people vent off some steam more easily
anyone who catches someone late starting WITHOUT breaking before the line to avoid finishing ..... or at least causing themselves to finish last, more than once having been warned afterwards gets put up here for 1 week increasing with each time their name is mentioned
LATE STARTERS
Name(14 days left)Strike 2
2nd Person(2 days left) Strike 3
3rd Person(1 day left) Strike 1
just puts some names down and i'll keep updating this,
would also be a good way of finding out who is causing the most agro for everyone
anyone like the idea?

I'm probably one of the ones better known for my dislike of late starters but we have to be careful how we deal with it. As I said when I started the thread many months ago I will name and shame at the time it happens the danger is that some people will abuse this and accuse people who don't visit the forums and see their name up in lights for what is basically cheating.
The three strikes system is a good idea but it needs to be administered properly, Voices noble intentions could be taken advantage of by someone telling him that a racer did it twice last night even though Voices wasn't there to witness it himself.
I've named people in the other thread and they have the right to challenge what I said but they all visit this forum and not one of them denies doing it, which either means they don't care it's considered a form of cheating or they know nothing will be done about it when they do cheat.
The best way to be honest is more admins applying rules set in stone
1st time you get told late starting is unacceptable please don't do it again
2nd time you get warned that you'll be kicked
3rd time is a kick _________________

lol, I was racing with him earlier, and I was beating him despite his late starting, so he left the server... he came back a bit later, and didn't even finish 1 race before leaving again... I wonder why _________________

doesn't everyone?
.... are we getting enough Admin coverage on the servers at the moment? I think this sort of stuff is best dealt with in real-time rather than having to tabulate offences - three strikes and you're out, any further repeating gets a ban. That can always be appealed on the Forums of course.
I take this opportunity to remind Admins of a particularly funny and hurtful method of discouraging restarts, that is forcing '/admin next' before the reptile completes the course _________________

What if I latestart
But still pass everyone during the race, so I'm still the first to finish
Would that be cheating? _________________

Well you manage to avoid the first corner chaos or the confusion that can come from racing in a pack so I would say you did gain an unfair advantage that could allow you to put in a much faster first lap which could allow you to take the lead. Even starting 5 secs late can give you a significant advantage over everyone being unsighted by other drivers.
Late starting is late starting whatever way you cut it an advantage is gained. _________________

the best way i can think of putting this is like a game of chess where you must tell you opponent what you plan on doing next turn
as late starting gives you time to react to some else's mistake, as if the person you are racing crashes into a corner you can just take it gently and come out ahead where as if you were racing the corner at the same time you would take it flat out and possibly join the other person into the wall |

When I first started playing...a noob to be exact. I late started race after race because I didn't like the first corner chaos and all those name banners blocking my view (before i figured out how to turn it off). But after racing against other members who late started and getting annoyed at them, I've realized how wrong it is.
So yeah, make me an admin as I'm on the server alot |
