Enough is enough. My computer's DVD drive won't recognise Need For Speed Most Wanted when I put the DVD-ROM in and close the tray. I hear the motor spin the disk, and every other game on DVD-ROM I have works fine in it, automatically loading when the tray is closed. When I try to open NFS however, I'm told I need to insert the disk. There's only one way to make it recognise the disk; by going to My Computer, right-clicking on the drive icon and selecting Eject. Sometimes the disk will load when the tray is put back in, sometimes it won't. Tonight it won't.
I've looked into the problem and I've found that it's not unheard of for this drive to not recognise some disks. Apparently a driver update will cure the problem, but LG don't have the driver on their website any more and I'm reluctant to trust the myriad of donload websites that could infect my computer with god-knows-what. can anybody suggest what my next move should be, or a download site that's safe? _________________

First off: my computer knowledge is terrible, and I've only updated one of my drivers once so I have no idea if this is possible...
but perhaps someone on here could send it to you if they have the same driver? |

That happens with me with Age of Mythology. If the CD is in the drive when I turn on the pc, it's fine; if I put it in while Windows is running, it says "Insert the CD" when I launch it. I need to log off and back on again. I guess it's just one of those things, and it's just with that game too. |

It's possibly something to do with the CD protection... ie like starforce. |
