I've configured my router's ports so 2350 and 3450 are open, but it's asking me for a "port map" for each one. Anyone know what that might be?

The ports are only required for running as server.

mapping lets you redirect ports so you can sometimes send port 4507 to 5647 for example.

so map 2350 to 2350 and 3450 to 3450

and point it to your computers IP address which needs to be fixed or static.

portredirect.com should help.

Thanks, Mad.

So if I'm using a normal, everyday ISP with non-static IP, other people won't be able to access my server?

Your ISP IP address doesn't matter. When you start a server your current ISP IP address is registered with nadeo.

On your own network though, from the router back, your network has to assign private IP addresses to all computers on your router. These private addresses need to be fixed somehow so that when the router forwards the information it knows where to send it.

You can either give your computer a static IP on your network or sometimes under DHCP config settings in the router you can fix certain IP addresses to certain computers Smile I hope that makes sense.

Also you need to adjust some IP settings to let yourself join your own server though the online menus....... If anyone needs help with that let me know because it's hard to find.

Thanks again .... I'll have a fiddle. It's not a full, bona fide server like yours I'm setting up - just a temporary one to have a 1 on 1 with a buddy.

Just curious - how much bandwidth does the server, or both, use per month??

well it totally depends on about ten things Smile

The biggest issue is peak time allowance for a server because thats what your ISP will care about. With my previous ISP and running Mad Laps with 15 slots I clocked up approx 20GB peak usage in a month and 30GB total.
Peak hours were 4 till 10pm

I'm currently clocking 70GB a month with 20GB peak because my connections peak hours exclude weekends and only cover office hours Smile

It will probably rise a bit with mad rounds too as the united server etc was not that busy.

As you can see most ISP would complain at this kind of bandwidth....... even people who claim unlimited.

And which poor company are you attempting to make bankrupt by stealing all their bandwidth??

lol, 70gb is huge. I was expecting about 10 to 20 Laughing

hehe now you know why around easter time I shut the server for a few days and ditched my ISP.

The figures did not include my business usage which is also considerable.

If anyone is interested in solid, business grade broadband where weekends are not counted as peak usage then I'll sell you some at a good rate..........

If you ever want contributions just ask. I'm sure people wouldn't mind giving a few quid for the privilege of playing on your fine servers. I for one would not.

(mind)

I've managed to drag a few of my Czech compatriots over to rounds and they are loving it ... gratulace, Mad!

Thanks bunsen. The extra cost of running the server is minimal as I host it here. Tha alternative is to use a professional games server host and to do that would cost money but enable a better quality of service and an increase in slots.

I am looking to revamp everything to the next level at some point and push everything that little bit further but it's as time allows Smile

But in the real world, I just spent a lot of time on a Cz rounds server cos I liked the tracks, and before long I was asked to join. I'm on my 3rd Cz clan now! Whether that's a promotion or relegation is anyone's guess, but we won yesterday's CW 115-35 against a team that wasn't all that bad ...

Yea it's a pretty good clan (very good, all the same) but I just wondered how someone on the Mad Laps from the UK ended up there. Smile
