if i use the EAsy system info it fails on 2 things, operating system and system memory, don't know why although i had to alter a directory to get grid to work Confused

here's a pic of the EAsy system info and also when i go to start, run and type winver if that helps

tried right clicking my desktop shortcut, properties, compatibility and changing to run in compatibility to Windows XP which doesn't work.
if i right click and click run as, then ok, it will go to the page where you select which game you want to play but i can't click any of them if i try launching from start menu nothing happens Exclamation

Have you tried installing the update 1.2 for the full pack, don`t know if it will work but may be worth a try.

http://i472.photobucket.com/albums/rr89/daz125/command/cpu.jpg

for reference i tried it with Crysis which i know works 100% as its already installed on my PC and i've played it, but that says the same
http://i472.photobucket.com/albums/rr89/daz125/command/crysis.jpg

`how` doesn`t the game work?? when i reinstalled generals/ zero hour, it stalled at the splash screen, i found a temp program in task manager and killed it, the game booted and the temp folder or program booted itself again, but the game worked fine, now, the game works without messing about (which i find strange).

Also, do you have the AMD dual core optimizer installed, it syncs the cores in the cpu so they run together (in certain apps) and not againt each other.

http://www.amd.com/us-en/Processors/TechnicalResources/0,,30_182_871_13118,00.html

There is also a AMD dual core driver further down the list which mentions X64 based systems

Evil check your pc is recognizing your cpu correctly.....go into your bios/ advanced tab /cpu config... see if it gives full name of cpu if not you may need to re-install it . It may not be seated properly

Evil,

Dare I ask, did you pray first, or will that be as in my case, sometimes, a last resort?

well that usually means that it thinks your PC isn't good enough evil, could you name your main specs plz?
it shouldnt be vista anyway, i have vista and it works without compatibility mode on.
go to the CnC zero hour directory (local disk/program files/EA games/C&C First decade/C&C Generals Zero hour....or something to that effect anyway..) and look around for the executable file, if you run it straight from that .exe, it will bypass "the first decade" screen, and go straight to the game. Then try compatibility mode, run as administrator etc. on that .exe file.
because when u run first decade in compatibily mode/run as administrator, it will run The First Decade loading screen as administrator/in XP mode, but when it re-directs u to zero hour, it will be running as vista/non-admin

my pc specs are
Athlon 2 64 bit 3 gig dual core
BFG 8800gt
5gb ddr2 ram
windows xp professional x64

my old pc which plays it is
Pentium 4 3.4
Leadtek GeForce 6200
1gb ddr ram
xp service pack 2

think its something to do with the support for 64 bit windows,
i've run the dual core setup thing but that hasn't made a difference

i'm just going to play it on my old pc for now, it plays good on it anyway, and try and get it working on my other pc at weekend when i've more spare time
had a go yesterday and i'd forgoten how to play almost Laughing
need to brush up my skills Confused Very Happy

Did you try the AMD x64 patch, same post as the DC optimiser (i`m grabbing at straws), It`s seems (like steve said) that your OS isn`t recognising the CPU properly, this is probably down to drivers as an OS cannot recognise any hardware until the drivers are installed.

Just read on C&C forum, copy entire cd to hard disk and install from there with no cd in drive,,, (may work but will take ages, Confused )

I know it may sound silly, but have you ejected the cd and put it back in?

When it says that, ctrl-Alt-Del into task manager and kill the process: ~esd141.tmp file, thats what was stopping mine loading when i re-installed.
