| People do think that Virgin is a customer-friendly brand, but it really isn't. They will squeeze you dry. I've heard horror stories about their excuse for a broadband service more times than I care to recall, and my own experience with them shows up what a bunch of near-criminals they are. I joined Virgin Active gyms because they had a pool in the centre of Manchester. It was OKish, if you didn't mind occasionally turning up at the pool in your trunks to find that the pool was closed and wasting half an hour of lunch when a notice at the turnstile would have been more apt. Or the fact that people would dry their towels in the sauna despite numerous complaints. Or the dripping water coming through the light fitting. Or the rarely cleaned toilets. But their biscuit moment came when I tried to leave. I had joined on a 12 month contract, then decided to leave when my situation changed. But they wouldn't let me. They said that if I didn't hand my notice in one month before the end of the 12 months, they would automatically set me up for a further 12 months with no get-out. I can't actually go to the gym any more, but still I have to pay no small amount every month, because it is there in the contract. I've looked online and there are dozens of furious people with the same issue, and Virgin take you to court if you cancel your standing order. So Basically I have to just pay them £504 over the next year even though I have no intention (or ability) to use the facitlities. Virgin is not the trustworthy, happy-go-lucky brand people seem to think it is. I won't ever use another Virgin product, and I'd urge anyone with a Virgin contract to read it very, very carefully. Well, I've got that off my chest! |
