I've solved my lag and bugginess issues with one simple click. Before I was running it on lowest graphic settings with a 1024x968 (I think thats right) resolution, I simply lowered it to 800x600 and now it runs perfectly. No lag, no late starts, no bugginess, completely smooth. (Just a bit pixelised Rolling Eyes )

I sympathise with both Swat's PC trouble and Mid's response to this threat. Due to the enforced late starting I'm faced with when racing on the new Mad Laps I'm looking into overclocking. I'm told that Pentium 4s are all exactly the same other than clock speed, is this the case? When the option is <£25 on a fan and some tweaking or £50 on a new processor that might need a bigger fan anyway, I could do with some advice.

Or do the tracks take so ong due to a slow connection? Maybe a bit of both?

Yeah, definitely. If the intro is long, you miss the start. I think that in the past the game would wait until everyone had finished watching the intro, which could be equally frustrating! I think the moral is that intros should be limited to about 10 seconds.

Incidentally, has anyone tried time attack? Between finishing one run and starting the next, there seems to be about 15 seconds - very annoying!

odd one to figure but 800x600 can often run slower than 1024x768. This is because the spec of the resolution for 800x600 is not good enough and varies dramatically with different hardware. I'm not saying it didnt work for you ste, but sometimes the opposite can be true.

Unfortunately there is only one default widescreen resolution and it does seem to eat into my handling capabilities a bit. Last night the game would sometime freeze for 2 or 3 seconds and of course when I re-emerged I was upside down and so was my car. All the 3:4 settings give that squashed effect you get when you visit your no-brain relatives with their widescreen TV and no concept of aspect ratio.

Earlier today we raced on a track that I havn't done before (think it was gp2 something or other), so I watched the entire intro to see what the track layout is like, returned to game mode to find everyone had already passed the first checkpoint Crying or Very sad

Quite annoying when you choose to watch the intro

To build a pc you need to implemant the use of 13 screws, thats 13, if you`ve ever played with lego, u`ll know how to build a pc, it`s a case of putting part a where part a goes, and it`s as simple as making a jam sandwich, google "how to build your own pc"--- many, many link`s on the matter. like this one.

http://www.tm-forum.com/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=9458&p=70310&hilit=crashes#p70310

A company who build pre built systems adds 2-300 pounds for the privelige of 15 minutes work to push a few components and wires together, also, you may get parts inferior to what you want as your spec!

not necesserilly dan... some built systems are only £30 dearer than the sum of their parts, and don;t get too heavy on dell either... If you want a cheap average PC for surfing the internet you'd be hard pushed to beat them with prices starting at £169....For a gamer or someone who wants upgrades, thats different.
