SPECIAL GP - POSTPONED BY A WEEK

OK, open GP on thursday at 8pm

This is a mid break special as the next GP series is not until after christmas.

This weeks GP will be a bit like a hair and hounds race.... based upon some highly technical calculation made here at mad laps HQ on the super computer racers will be launched in several packs using a rolling handicap. This should lead to a megatomic grandstand finish that makes us all feel a bit better and challenges all skill levels to produce their best. Who knows, sosteve could even beat bboy.

It's just for fun and trials but have fun, the tracks will be posted 30 minutes before the race for warmups.

This week the tracks will be made by erm the great MAD himself so expect the unexpected.

ok, due to current issues with the challenge and points servers ( I sold the router and the reserves are useless ) The special GP will be held on the PRO server. This will be passworded with the carnage password at approx 7.30, when the tracks go up.

RULES:

Each track has a HANDI LOOP. This is used as the handicap system for drivers. A lap of the handi loop is around 15-20 seconds. This means that 3 laps of the handi loop is approximately a one lap handicap.

There are three levels of handicap and three groups of drivers. Make sure you know which group you are in before the race start.

Group 1. No Handicap. Drivers slower than or equal to SoSteve simply race the circuit as presented.

Group 2. 3 handi loop handicap. Drivers faster than SoSteve and Slower or equal to Middenrat/Mad/Fenderfunk/DantheMan

Group 3. 7 handi loops handicap. Drivers like stevieM, hotswat, bboy, angel, danski

The races will be recorded and loops completed checked as necessary to confirm the handicap system.

The system should lead to a grandstand style finish with most people crossing the line with very little gap between them Smile

The tracks are :
The System : DaMadman - Fast and furious
Frosty : DaMadman - a little slower

The handicap loop amounts have been calculated based upon last seasons GP results with the 3 groupings broken down and timings taken. They may seem excessive, but based upon those times, the winners would have remained the same in each case.

During warm up should we confirm who starts in each group so as to stop people who are not named trying to leave in a group earlier than they should be?.

Due to admin problems and the router issue I've decided to postpone it by a week Sad

We are very low on people who can run it tommorrow and this is causing issues as it is an experimental race. Unfortunately I know that cRJ won't be able to make next week but I think it's our best option.

I will run it on the 18th of December.

If someone on a handicap does less than the amount of circuits of the HandiLoop they should be doing do they get a straight DQ?

All races will be saved so we can scrutinise the handicap laps. As counting the laps is open to error or misuse, anyone going before their laps will have their time adjusted by their average time around the handiloop. Thus a slight extra handicap will be applied as the first time round the handiloop is slow due to the standing start. This way, a person who makes a counting mistake and goes on to win may well be demoted to 4th place and order is restored, without making a big deal of it.
