Does anyone know how much it costs ? It looks good...and good things are usually expensive. Also, is the demo free ? |

Has to be said....nadeo shoot themselves in the foot by realising TMN for free. But it wouldnt be so popular if it cost money.
But the game looks good...demo is probably free.
Also, bunsen, do you use a download manager?? Does make it quite alot faster. |

.... 72%
I used to have a thing called GetRight in my 56k modem days, but stopped using it when I got ADSL ....
I just pop back every now and again and move my mouse a bit
... 74%. Yes, like a rocket!
If this game is good I will buy it.
Oh yes. GetRight had a thing that allowed it to turn the computer off when the download finished. I want it now. I am weary.

I lost two servants to dysentery today. Poor bleeders.

You'd think the blighters would have the common decency to bleed well since they're servants.

60%... have you ever wondered why microsoft are able to count backwards
and how does the counter ever reach 140%
Why does the last % always take 10 times longer than it should?
When you uninstall a microsoft product why does it say INSTALLATION COMPLETE!
looks great wonder what happens when I hit run.......... |

dunno what you stiffs are moanin on about 1st mirror listed gave me 20% faster d/l than i'm subscribed for
and...what a beaut demo!!! even on novice with driver aids the feeling is unmistakeably phat saloon car stylee, loadsa torque oversteer and bugger all downforce. Plenty of feedback from the different surfaces (on line/off line, grass, gravel etc) and stunning detailed scenery.
The track representing Brands Hatch is perfectly (honest!) modelled and the overall sound balance is good, subtle actually!
Other tracks and cartypes are totally wasted on me, my Trackmania-programmed left hand driving style has ruined any prospect of playing such a detailled game via keyboard (the num pad is reserved ). I imagine playing using a force-feedback steering wheel and pedals setup would be awesome but i'm saving up for a mosickle so sack that _________________

my download came in at 300kb/sec so I'm not complaining.
very pretty, bit jumpy on my rig and the internet gaming can be a bit fraught....races mean alot of hanging around waiting
but not too shabby. funny thing though.. the more powerful cars are easier to drive??? work that out. |

Just had an hour on it. I could only do the F1 type game, I think (demo). My first imprssions are that if this game delivers everything it promises it will be amazing. Like, anal racer heaven. Setting up wings and gear ratios and brake balances, blue flags, overtaking, slipstreaming ... well, that's me. I don't think there's too much waiting. You do your practice then quali then the race and there's about a minute in between.
Driving, though, is very difficult with the keyboard. It's super twitchy, especially emerging from a corner when your trackmania brain tells you to nail it. It certainly needs some kind of analogue steering, accel and brake otherwise it's more or less unplayable. I was expecting to get better over the hour but it kept suprising me with spins and slides - all self inflicted, of course (going onto the grass makes your tyres slippy for a bit) but it's very unforgiving, and I suppose realistic.
I could imagine being frustrated getting stuck behind a slow car, but choosing servers that match your abilities would probably cure that.
All in all, it has the potential to be a great game. The people I raced seemed friendly and helpful, and the idea of playing entire "weekends", trying setups, practising, qualifying, racing and pitting, fills me with joy.
It is nothing at all like trackmania, though, where you are given tons of grip and indestructible cars. Strangely, although Race07 is certainly more real-world, TM feels more intuitively real and predictable. I'll keep having goes on Race07 demo for a while, but if there was a game with TM handling and R07 background gameplay, we would have a classic. |
