If we kept score on the forum, we could have a set time, say- 6 months, then the highest scorer could win a boiled cabbage,,, maybe.............

I dunno Dan, if i just update the forum tag every race then we'll have a clear indicator of who's scored the most points, all-time. That way the server champion will have to keep playing to maintain his/her position and will have to post on the forum to get any braggage Wink

another week's Solo Cup races has passed, some characteristics of the gametype are revealing themselves and we're getting the hang of it. Welcome to the newer players whos raced so enthusiastically. Blue Steve connected late which handed the tie to Swat, challenged most closely by Dragon Fury. Dantski bagged the first points awarded to an off-podium Finallist and would surely have been joined by other players on that mark had all the stronger racers been present from the Start: competition at the top extends the drama right down the field in this mode so come on Aces, don't be shy of going head-to-head Rolling Eyes

Standings:
50 Points: Swat
30 Points: Bboy
20 Points: Dragon Fury
10 Points: The King, Steve
5 Points: Dantski

Cup mode round-up (no pun intended), 6/9/08

Things got off to a typical start, the most noticeable missing driver being Swat.

Bboy/Messiah/whatever name you want to call him took an early lead with Steve trying hard and struggling over the first few tracks. Before long Bboy took 1st and Steve got back on form to take 2nd. Meanwhile, a battle between myself, Mid, CappyD and to a lesser extent (at least to begin with) Reh was raging half way down the points table.

Things got interesting on Mad's infamous (ahem) Track 548. Cappy was religiously taking the final corner instead of jumping through the start like most of the drivers still racing had quickly realised was possible and this allowed Mid, Reh and yours truly to catch his lead in the race for third. Mid was first to go finalist, followed by Reh. I was one point away at 99 points and was really feeling the pressure, but took the win in the next round and went finalist.

The next round was surely to be the decider. Despite a reasonably good start I bumped a wall after the jump over the poles and this allowed Reh to take the lead and the win. Great fight Reh (and Mid, Cappy too if he drops by), nice racing all and see you next week.

good round-up DC. Thanks to Bboy for rustling up a couple of Yankee cousins, CappyD and Wilameta, on a night with an England World Cup Qualifier. I know where the quality entertainment was tonight Laughing

Finallist 5 Points DaCheese
ditto Middenrat

Standings:
60 Points: Bboy

another Saturday night and another Solo Cup meeting. Good turnout, too, thanks for supporting the event, guys n gals Smile. Pity the people who can genuinely challenge for the Win seem reluctant to go head-to-head and turn up halfway through the races when the winner is already nailed on. I don't believe we've had the best out of this format - and won't - until the top step of the podium is honestly contested. The tension doesn't build until the also-rans are coming through for Third place. I can't make people turn up on time, but I'm considering closing the grid at 8 o'clock prompt to prevent the gadflies from just turning up for the laughs and taking Points off contenders.
Anyhow, 1st Bboy 2nd HotSwat 3rd Dragon Fury and no other Finallists. I'll update the personal tags later tonight to reflect the standings, which are:
90 Points: Bboy
70 Points: Swat
30 Points: Steve, Dragon Fury
10 Points: The King, Reh
5 Points: Dantski, DaCheese, Middenrat

There's no signup thread Kork, on Saturday nights at 8pm UK time just find the Mad Laps Challenge server in the Scotland area of the server list, enter the time-honoured password (see the Challenge Servers sticky) and race.
