Last night due to late starting I turned on warmup mode....

This lets you complete one lap before the race start and gives everyone an extra 30 seconds or more to connect in. It worked very well when the server was heaving and gives you more time to chat if you don;'t want to warm up.

It does take off some of the edgy, snappy feel to the racing but tell me what you think......

Its much better Very Happy I dont mind the delay if it means everyone starts at the same time.

And, it stops Bboy sabotaging everyone else to win races like he did the other day.

I also really liked it, it allowed the newer racers to learn the tracks (and also the less newer ones that dont know the classics) before the race started, as well as the newer fast people (minim, grendel etc) to learn the tracks too. I found the racing to be alot closer and exciting last night which is what I used to love back in Nations.

I did late start a couple but joined 15 secs into the warmup with plenty of time to spare, luckily I know most of the tracks so warmup is chat-time for me.

I think it's great, and I think it should be kept.

I agree, it all sounds good for me. Prevent from late start for some, let learn the track before the start for others... it should be kept, yes. Very Happy

The only downside is making our way through the tracks alot slower, It'll be better once Mad implements the 50-track a week thing that he was talking about, but with warmup mode on at the moment a track will probably appear once every millenium Laughing

I'm all for it, thought ste's point about Minim and Grndl having a sighting lap is going to hurt me Confused
but yea, with 450-odd in the rotation it will be class. Which has got me thinking 'keep em all'!

I have now officially raced with warmup on heres my opinion: It's great unless you're a person like me the kind of person who does great on the warmup and then completely bombs the actual race Sad but if you're a person like I am less often then you love it because you end up bombing the warm up so you have a chance to redo that and do AMAZING Shocked Very Happy. If you race the same all the time and never mess up *cough *cough Mid *cough then you don't care at all Very Happy

mmmm, i don't usually do a full warm up lap, i usually go round alot slower to refresh my memory of the course, once i remember the layout i stop and wait for the start. obviously you might not have done alot of the classics tracks, so you will probably want to do a full lap but it might be easier to remember if you don't 'race' on the warmup, just 'cruise' and remember each corner.
