I downloaded the demo on mad`s recommendation, found it good, but all the glitches were doing my head in so i read the forums and found those to relate mostly to the demo.

So i got the game.

It`s Visually brilliant, vehicle physics are the best i`ve seen since Forza motorsport on Xbox, collision detection is amazing and the game-play is brilliant.

There are obviously issues, server (player set up) list is very uninfomative, as in, when your friends are online, take an eon to find them as there appears to be no buddy list and the learning curve is very very steep. Also, the setup menus are a nightmare with 50,000 keys to press to alter settings which should be relatively simple, changing the controls defines you to THAT set, not being able to have two keys to define one action, i.e arrow keys or pad (unlike TM).

Overall i`d give the game 8/10 as a whole, definately worth the `cash` i paid for it and a recommend to others who like racing games.

p.s. is graphically HEAVY, needs pixel shader 3, and a dual core processor
or a single core over (minimum) 2.4 gig

oooo i think my system will just about handle it (altho i need to free up at least another couple of gig). I did like the demo eventually, but i hated the handling of the cars..but the carnage and damage etc was awesome.

I'm actually getting pretty annoyed with the game, and I only installed it yesterday. I can't have my graphics settings high, or i'll lag (i can't even have tyre smoke on). I hate the handling of the cars, it feels like i'm walking a tightrope and one wheel on the grass causes mass weaving into a wall..I can spend an entire lap catching the opposition and then when I attempt a pass I get clipped and end up face first into the tyres.

I might get used to it, but for now its not my cuppa.

lots of glitches in the demo I got on my PS3. Like the sound on mine would randomly repeat the sound of a crash over and over again (really annoying + makes it hard to drive). In the demo if I entered some servers it would freeze up and I would have to resart my PS.

Looks great can't keep the car in a straight line to save myself. Well what I suppose I mean is I can get the motor up to a nice fast speed but when I'm negotiating high speed bends the thing just fishtails wildly, doesn't brake unless its slamming on the anchors and turns like a jetski. It's probably just me being too hard on the controller but it's so different to NFS, TM, Sega Rally the driving games I normally play it will probably take me a bit of time to get used to it.

agree, Dodgy - the keyboard interface is a bit woeful. So I've ordered a controllerpad thingy to give it a fair trial.

To anyone considering buying this game a cautionary tale.

Last night on vent sosteve and dan say "come have a game of grid spanky" so I load the game up and enter multiplayer, pick custom game, and try and join their session. Except I couldn't see their game and they couldn't see mine when I created one. So after many more attempts I say "have you guys downloaded the V1.1 patch for the PC version" steve and dan "what patch" so they go off and download the patch and et voila they can now see me. Obviously this patch wasn't that well documented or every punter would know about it, I only know about it because I went to www.racedrivergrid.com to download a new car.

Once you actually play online beware if collisions and damage are turned on, I managed one clean lap was in second place when some son of a biatch slams into my rear bumper and fires my car into a tyre wall. I was on the racing line barely braking at all when some numpty who didn't know he had brakes used my car as an air bag. Course the car is wrecked and you can't carry on. Now that can happen in real life racing but when you're as naff as I am at this game it really pisses you off that someone can completely take you out through sheer bloody mindedness after you've made considerable effort to try and drive the car properly.

No I wasn't playing demolition derby. Crying or Very sad

the preoblem with the version thing happens to all m/p games because the (your) game is looking for the same .exe and same update files to run smoothly, i have found it in alot of fps games (cod4, Fear combat), also TM does it when u first install, (Check if TM is up to date), as did nations

yep but alot of the updates are forced on you or announced ingame....

As for the nutters I agree spanky that being shoved off the track by a maniac is not nice but if he is a true idiot vote to kick him after the race.

being able to punt someone off and having the danger present adds a whole new part of play that were just not used to.

Oh don't get me wrong I'm sure much fun will be had with a bit of rubbing during the racing it's just the blatant takeout that got my back up. TM maybe lacks something because you cant block an overtake, certainly in Gran Turismo it wasn't unheard for me to take advantage of thumping cars in hairpins when jostling for the lead Very Happy

If anyone is game how about a high speed head on crash on the nurburgring, down the main straight 400mph rate of closure see how many g's we can get for the impact Twisted Evil completely pointless but fun for the vids section
