These days new tracks on Mad Laps combine stunt sections and normal racing. The racers that want crazy tracks are on LOL servers and whatnot, the ones that want laps mode racing on semi-realistic tracks are on severs like those run by Madness, BST and MODLaps. There might be a middle ground we can attract, but it'll be hard to find them.
My thinking is get the new rotations sorted out so that we're in a position to offer a better racing experience and then sticking a message on the main game page saying how ML is different to other laps servers.

Good point about the narrow markets that most servers cater for. I've tried recently to get my tracks to cover all bases with stunts and good pieces of track between them so glad this is being echoed 
More people build tracks please (and don't be put off by the threat of critique...we want all our tracks to be the highest possible standard and experienced people are here to offer their advise ) |

As JawZ rightly pointed out we need to try and do something to encourage punters to come in, hang about and keep coming back.
I've thought for a while about a league, no teams just individuals. We'd run this between GP seasons 5-8 laps 4 races per night 1 night per week.
Finishing positions dictates points which go towards a league table. We could run it for say 5 weeks to get a first season standings then throw in the threat of relegation to keep it interesting and the racing frenzied.

I admin a server as well for TnT , The thing I see is that mostly the server is empty. I have no idea how come. I started with playing Nascar, its verry catchy that you can get verry fast towards dedirecs. But after a while i got ambition to more and started to create some tracks, with a few corners added. So even after a while i started to play mini's. Now i try to combine mini tracks with the Nascar feel. When you can get the hang off it, you get somehow greedy. So you want to come close to the top.
A bit how i see it.
What i think is, the difference in skill between ML regulars and the newby's who just comin to the server scares them somehow. And go to "safer" resorts. Lets say,... nascar?
Were i want to go to is try to tighten that gap. Loosen up a bit and have fun. And pass the knowledge

very very true, sometimes i look now and there is nothing more satisfying than winning the odd race or fighting tight races with people who are in the same league as yourself, ok sometimes you crash out or hit a few walls, but when you look at a server and its full of elites can be a put off, and not being bios but can work the same the other way around, if swat , bboy or stevie turn up they race a few then it must just be as boring winning by ten secs every race then they make there excuses then leave.
not saying this is the main problem, everybody has there reasons, lot of the regulars have turned to grabbing points, some prefer dirt, there is a lot more servers out there now since i started playing this.
we have a member also in Mr jones who has a server sitting idle, get some of his regulars over to us on cup night race our tracks and maybe he could set up something on his server and we could go and race on his tracks one night a week.
if its a hit its a win win all round, but like all things it will fizzle out after time people will get bored, then it will be time to get the thinking caps on again.
the cannonball runs are quite popular and your on about setting up a couple of leagues one week on ours one week on Mr jones different scenery and different tracks.
would also split the burden between both
