There doesn't seem to be any kind of votekick except in the lobby, by which time it's too early to detect the little coteries of A-holes that lurk around the tracks ramming everyone off and declaring them pwned. (or is there?) This really sucks - I can see why you only seem to host private rooms now. WHat a shambles!

yeah but then I may as well play Trackmania! Is there even a PM tool so you could set up a private room with the non-griefers?

Nope, no buddy system either, thats the joy of Vent (thanks to Mad). The whole multiplayer system is flawed in so many ways, you`ll see more as you play more.

Vent's fine for people you already know, but if you're on a track with 10 random decent guys and 3 idiots, it'd be nice to be able to (a) boot the idiots or (b) whisper a password to the good guys and set up a server. Ah, well!

How else is multiplayer flawed???

Can't wait till the next mature, beardy game with you guys anyway Wink

Server host controls don`t appear until your all in `the garage`.
Can`t turn names off, so visability is reduced on tracks with lots of cars.
No Buddy system.
No out of server chat system.
No multiple event selection system.
Vote kick system doesn`t seem to work anymore.
theres more, just can`t think, i`ll post em later.

there are many flaws in the multiplayer setup. cant remember if this was the same in toca 3 (also made by codemasters)
but i know there was no buddy system.

i notice DTM uses xfire more, and sosteve usually pops on to tell me if his popping up a grid private server.

i love...xfire. Embarassed

i think this is why in public servers damage is on, although the idiots make the first few corners potentially a danger zone, but after first few corners theyve screwed themselves up. Im not as annoyed by crashers as much, its the ones that remain idle the whole race.

at start an idle car can cause havoc on the astart grid if idle car is near the front. also if the idle car isnt pushed off at the start it can be sitting on the sodding racing line.

there is a rare time where you'll find like minded ppl wanting a clean race.
i do love good clean racing battles, even if im 11th or 12th Very Happy

demo derby in public, can be quite fun, even if the intentional wreckers that do a hotswat, and just look to kill, but its always fun to try and avoid them and see them hurtling into a wall and wrecking themselves Very Happy noobs lol

yep, that's the major flaw with the game in that if we race as a community it won't grow and it can't flourish because you can't own or control a server enough to ensure an enjoyable racing experience that is open to all..... but we can have fun.

12 people in a room is max you can have to.

with 6-7 from this community, we could try sitting in;

non ranked: im not sure what kind of player visit there, but it would mean we dont have to go back to garage after every race, though cant change the damage and collisions as freely. i know its not as populur as the ranked.

ranked: could have the full 12, but one thing ive noticed in ranked.
if the server is on demolition- it will be voted each time this is the same with:
touring car events (there are 3 or 4 different touring car events)
drift events

there seems to be very few that go random and if a server goes into a race that nobody likes the majority leave.

also ive only witnessed one person get kicked but it seemed to freeze the server? saying the player has been kicked in chat constantly.

Is there any sort of practice or hot lap mode ? or is it just, your on the Grid ( Idea ) some track/circuit you've never seen before, in a high powered vehicle, and smash you way to victory !! ( btw, this is offline )

... just seen the time of your post... guess you made it after all Smile

the only way to practice is to play the off line stuff. The track map and braking indicator is the only way to negotiate an unknown track...

On offline, go to Race Day and you can select everything, from the number of laps to the version of the circuit you race. You do tend to find that there are about nine tracks that get played over and over:
Jarama, Istanbul, Spa, Okutama, Donington, Milan, Washington, SanFran, Nurburgring ... OK, practically all of them ... but you can always set your preferences to, say, Europe and no collisions so you can learn a few track and driving whiles still having the online experience.
