i've been on the editor a few times so can build a very basic track, (usually for my 3 year old daughter cos shes bored of just racing on grass lol, has to be a pink car too )straights and corners (can only make the 90 degree corner or very sharp corner) but don't know how to put uphill or downhill slopes, i can't find the "block" or whatever i need, can do 1 block incline but if i keep doing those (join 2 together) but it ends up as 2 humps
i go on basic editor too
i'd like to have a go at making a track so any help would be great (or a link to a decent thread)
cheers guys _________________

the basic editor is extremely limited and you have probably done all you can in it. smooth hills etc can only be created in the advanced editor. |

The problem is Swat that you can teach someone how the editor works but not how to build a track. Everyone has a different style of track. For example:
Mad: Generally tight, twisty and awkward, but rather good and make excellent racing.
Dan: Claims to build something called "Tech". That seems to be quite tight too, but the muttering about flow makes sense somehow.
Yourself: Lots of generally quite sweeping corners that back up on each other a kilometre above ground.
So it's up to a trackbuilder to look at what works on the server, nick bits here and there and come up with a style that suits them. Having said that, I'd be happy to give you a hand with that project. _________________

mine usually have nice elements, are too long, have an awkward corner that mad hates, but lack madverts and advanced MT stuff. _________________

As a matter of interest is anyone interested in some trackbuilding collaborations?. I've done a couple of tracks but as Mad will attest my attempts at scenery and signage are not the greatest and why the cam changes won't work I don't know. So if anyone is interested in taking the tracks and doing a quick polish let me know. _________________

OO OO ME PICK ME!
atm i can't make a track without it ending up as a hardcore tech, but when it comes to polishing off a track, i'm your man (you didn't think Bubba Ho Tep did all the work on those tracks he made did you? ) _________________

He didn't do all the work on them himself? What did he do then, because I don't recall the one we GPed being the most exciting looking (or exciting full stop) track ever built.
I'm also happy to look over tracks and do some modifications when time permits, my close friend and irregular ML racer ATOM has sent me a few tracks to test and they're shaping up nicely. I also added the Madverts for Jonny's on his fairly recent upgrades to the Bourne trilogy.
There must be a good reason why your camera changes aren't working Spanky. First of all, what seems to be the problem? _________________
