A few people having been voicing their opinions about MAD LAPS being a 5 lap server, and I must say i'd like to see it as one too, even for a trial run would be great.
What do you all think?

well.
We used to have a mini server which only had around 12 tracks at a time on it, 5 laps a race. It was good some nights because it was more endurance than anything and you have more time to catch.
Getting rid of the unused united server and bringing back the mini server would be great |

There are already 98% of the servers in Time Attack and i must say that if there was a MadLaps server in that mode, i wouldn't put my feet on it...
About the 5 laps i don't know... sometimes i need one or two more lap which could help me to get a podium or a win, but also other times it can be the inverse so... i don't know, really. |

Yeah there are some tracks that i would find a total nightmare to try and even get 3 laps done never mind 5 lol but on the whole i enjoy 85% of all tracks so i'm in favour (or even 4 laps)
The best tracks tho i'd just would love to go a lot further than 5, DTM's new Speeder track for one, ace track there Dan but still no as good as "Race for the win", keep up the good work!!!

Timeattack = fun
Mad laps is timeattack = lame
MapLaps Mini (5 rounds) = fun
MadLaps (normal tracks, 5 rounds, takes forever ) = lame

could you not put some of the shorter tracks on 5 laps and the rest on 3?
5 laps races on long tracks can be boring |

Impossible unfortunately. The lap mode is setup like this : you choose the number of lap for the whole server. Not that number for some tracks and another number for other tracks...
Maybe if it was in Rounds, but we would need to revalidate every tracks...
No, i think we should keep things as they are right now. |

ok, my miserable ramblings on the subject
In general 3 laps leads to snappier racing and if you don't like a track you are likely to hang around for the next one. Unfortunately the need to run in warm up mode makes tracks last much longer
more than 3 laps can become tiresome to people who are struggling or new or don't like the track. 5 laps or more is great on the piston laps format where tracks average 30-40 seconds in length
If I run more than one server one is always empty....... though we may be able to improve that. |
